ACA - fully qualified with proven successful relevant management experience. Significant post qualification experience ideally in a large, corporate environment with a high level of IFRS sophisication. Manage a team of 6 qualified accountants, perform coaching where required and maintain professional development within the team. Analytical with keen attention to detail and presentation. White Label is now recruiting for an exciting opportunity for a Design Engineering Manager to join one of our market leading machinery manufacturing companies, who specialise in material handling equipment.Reporting to the Operations Director, you will be working closely with customers and their technical representatives, engineering Development Manager, Works Manager and team, Controls & Systems Engineering team, System Sales Managers, Installation Manager and team, and the Accounts team.The main purpose of this role is to undertake the applications engineering, mechanical design and detailing tasks and project management activities required for the conversion of orders into the specified materials handling equipment and systems (standard and bespoke) in a cost effective and timely manner and in accordance with company objectives. Also to provide technical / mechanical engineering expertise and guidance to your team of engineers, as well as to undertake one’s own projects.Role responsibilities: • Design, develop and detail both standard ranges, and innovative bespoke mechanical handling solutions. Specify and procure bought in third party equipment when required.• Contract management - optimise the commercial outcome of projects by ensuring project costs are tightly controlled and that charges for variations to contract are levied where appropriate and justified.• In conjunction with the Operations Director and the Engineering Development Manager allocate the project engineering team’s workload (including one’s own projects), to ensure the timely issue of manufacturing information, e.g. Work Instructions, BOM’s Drawings etc .• Respond to the manufacturing teams questions and provide assistance with the ‘how to’ queries as they arise particularly relating to non-standard / bespoke / special items.• Support the continuing development of skills and knowledge within the project engineering team. PERSON SPECIFICATION:• Graduate level mechanical engineer with a credible technical engineering background in special purpose machinery, materials handling / conveying equipment and systems. Knowledge of Power and Free systems would be a distinct benefit.• High level and well-practised CAD skills – both 2D & 3D required• Experience of contract management and good commercial awareness.• Familiar with manufacturing environments and procedures and conversant with the working principles of database style ERP systems and their use in an engineering / manufacturing business.• Should have a strong coaching style and be a good open communicator The company is considering candidates with proven experience in a lead role.
